Christmas Preparations

It is estimated that 60% of the American population is suffering with our economical problems right now. I doubt that the problems will be fixed in time for Christmas. LOL! This means that children will be facing a tough Christmas again this year. Many of those kids will have no gifts waiting for them under the tree.

Economical conditions were really bad last year also. That didn't stop several people from digging deep into their pockets and donating clothes and/or toys to several families in Wichita and Scott Counties last Christmas. Those people brought a bunch of new gifts and/or cash to our house last December. Then we dropped them off to the families' parents a few days before Christmas.

I remember talking to three of the kids who are in the same family. They were aged between 7 and 10 years old then. My eyes STILL sting and flood when I remember how they excitedly told me that that was their FIRST time EVER that Santa Claus came to their house. Oh, My God! My heart still breaks for these children who could not have been any happier if they had tried!!!

I realize that we have not yet completed the first week of November yet but I still want you to be thinking of kids whom you know who may not be having any gifts this year. If you think that we can help their families, please call me at 620-375-4584 or email me at slblaus@gmail.com . I will need to know who the people are, how many kids are in their family, what their ages are, if possible, whether each child is a boy or a girl. Any personal information that you give to me will be kept private.

At that time, I will post only that information, NO NAMES, on my blog. I will not give out the information on how many kids, ages, etc are in the family. I will just post each child, person by person. In a small town like Leoti, it is too easy to figure out what family in Leoti has 3 kids, 2 boys and 1 girl who are 3, 4 and 5-years-old. I definitely do not want to hurt the parents' pride. My readers can join with me to provide gifts for them.

The Wichita County Ministerial Alliance will be taking up food offerings to share with families in need. Contact your minister if you will be needing food for Thanksgiving and/or Christmas or if you can donate food to this VERY worthwhile cause!!!

Thank you!!!

VLE-B
