Accident at Local Business
Recently, people have been asking what happened at a local auto parts store in Leoti. Without naming names, I will try to let people know what happened. A customer's foot accidentally slipped off of his brake and caused his vehicle to go partially through a large plate glass window and door. As far as I know, no one was injured.

Coins for Angels
RBSES (Robert Bruce Stewart Elementary School) Students are being asked to donate any coins that they may want to sponsor one or more angels that are on Security State Bank's "Angel Tree". Each angel represents a child from Wichita County who will probably not receive any Christmas gifts unless people from the community donate money to this cause. Each child on the tree has notified the powers-to-be of what they are really hoping for as far as presents are concerned.
As parents, friends, neighbors, etc of RBSES students, we can send coins to school that will be used for the children in need this year at Christmas time. If you wish to donate cash, checks or coins to this cause but do not know any RBSES students, please feel free to drop your money off at the grade school office or simply make your donation for the Angel Tree at Leoti's Security State Bank.
Too many children dread the first day back to school after Christmas because many teachers allow a special Show and Tell opportunity for the children to show what they received for Christmas. For a lot of children, little if anything was received from Santa Claus, family, friends, etc. The younger children are left wondering why everyone else was remembered at Christmas with gifts but they were not. One child who has to face this sadness is one too many.
I realize that many people are struggling with finances now but you do not have to donate a large amount of money. Just donate whatever you feel comfortable with. If everyone donated a dollar or less, the money would build up and really serve to make some children REALLY happy...
If you do not live in Wichita County, I strongly urge that you find a place in your own community that is also collecting funds for children who otherwise may not have Christmas gifts this year.
If you are a former Wichita Countian and want to make a donation of any amount of money for our local children, please call the bank at 620-375-4800. I am sure that they would only be too happy to accept your donations via credit card, debit card, etc.
If you know of a child who will probably not be having Christmas gifts this year, PLEASE call the bank and let them know of this child.

You've already heard about the death of our neighbor across the stret from us. It was and still is tragic. I have been SOOO VERY PROUD of all of you who have stepped forward and offered your assistance with the family left behind!!!
Over the weekend, a lady in town purchased a package of diapers at Leoti's Dollar General and left them there for the family. She wished to be anonymous. The manager hung on to them until we went in the next time. She then gave them to us. Stan delivered them to the wife. She was so very happy to get them!
If you are also wanting to help. please feel free to leave your item(s) at Dollar General or bring them to our house and we can deliver them for you if that is what you want. If you don't mind letting them know who the gift is from, please write your name and any other note that you want. Or, if you also want to keep your identity secretive, just let Linda, the store's manager, or us know. Your wish will be our command.

Bobby Joe Fuller--Tribune
Bobby Joe Fuller was born on August 23rd of 1951 and passed away at his Tribune, Ks. home on December 1st, 2009. He was 58-years-old.
Mr. Fuller was born in Fulton, Kentucky. He was a Greeley County resident since 1965. He was a farmer. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
On March 14th, 1980, he married Rose Donovan in Syracuse. She survives. Other survivors include 3 brothers, Jerry of Springfield, Mo., Eugene Fuller of Goodland, Ks., Danny of Dighton, Ks., 5 sisters, Janet Smith of Paducah, Ky., Diane Church of Wellington, Ks., Peggy Fox of Springfield, Mo., Betty Sue Walker of Florida, Lyda Burton of Guymon, Ok.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Douglas Fuller, his mother, Mable Earl Snyder Fuller, 3 brothers, Douglas Fuller, Jr., Billy Mack Fuller, Johnnie Lee Fuller and 2 sisters, Gail Lynn Millirons and Pamela Fuller.
His funeral will be held at 2:00 mst on Friday, December 4th, at the Assembly of God Church in Tribune. Inurnment will be at the Greeley County Cemetery just south of Tribune.

Eva E. Cooley--Healy
Eva Cooley was born on November 27th, 1907 and passed away on November 30th, 2009 at the age of 102. She passed away at the Scott County Hospital.
Mrs. Cooley was a resident of Healy since 1945. She was a homemaker, seamstress and worked on the farm and ranch. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Healy and Royal Neighbors of America.
She married Clifford Earl Cooley on July 28th, 1934 in Hays. He passed away on October 27th, 1974.
Mrs. Cooley is survived by three sons, James T. and Helen of Healy, Lester E. and Janet of Hamilton, Montana and Archie and Peggy of Healy, 23 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sons, Robert V. and Randy J.
Her funeral will be held at 2:00 on Saturday, December 5th at the Methodist Church in Healy. Interment will be in the Healy Cemetery.
Memorials are encouraged for the Healy EMTs and the Scott County Hospital in care of Price and Sons Funeral Homes.

ATTN: PARENTS OF CHILDREN UP TO 18-YEARS-OLD
As of today, December 1st, the Wichita County Health Department (not the clinic) is dispensing FREE H1N1 shots or nasal mists to children 18-years-old and younger!!! Leighlyn and Abigayle received the nasal mists. Since Abigayle is not 7-years-old yet, she will return after the first of January for her final nasal mist for H1N1.
Earlier this fall, Wichita County medical professionals received their vaccines. Pregnant women were also given the first batch of vaccine. Now, it is the next group of people, the children's, turn. Once it is believed that all of the children who want to be vaccinated, have been vaccinated, it will be time for the third group which includes anyone from 64-years-of-age on down who suffer with various chronic health conditions. Once those people are vaccinated, the final group, anyone who didn't fall under the previous criteria, can receive vaccinations.
