Cowgurl_up_dude

When I first checked email this morning, I discovered that my blog had sent a comment to my email for me to decide whether or not to publish it for all of you to read. Some of you wonder why I screen my comments before I publish them. The answer is simple. I don't want any comments to appear that may offend anyone out there.

Case in point, someone named "cowgurl_up_dude" wanted to have a very nasty comment that was full of cursing and hatred under an obituary that had been published almost 2 years ago. I was stunned at what I read. C.U.D., have you ever heard that you catch more flies when you use honey instead of vinegar as bait? I realize that you were not trying to catch anyone. You were trying to verbally attack other people. Maybe your foul language and nastiness is accepted by other people who run in your cirle, but I can guarantee that the majority of people would have been totally angered and upset by what you had to say.

I hope that in the future, you and others out there will remember that keeping your words soft and sweet, will make them much easier to swallow later.

I always appreciate comments but none will be published on my blog if they are lewd and vicious.

More Responses of the Wichita County Elementary School

On May 15th, many of us took advantage of the Open House so that we could see both, the new and the newly restored portions of the new elementary school. Back then, the response was extremely favorable. Many of us could not get over what a magnificent job had been done.

Since then, many other people have dropped by to take a look around. All are quite impressed with the school. The people who went to school in the older section many years ago cannot believe the amazing renovation and restoration that have been done. I TOTALLY agree! We have a great building for our children to receive an excellent education in in Wichita County!!!

Again, I want to thank Dr. Hardy, The Wichita County School Board and all of the voters who voted "YES" for the new school!!!

Storn Damages

The wind has just been HORRENDOUS in Western Kansas this year. I have lived here all of my 49 years and I cannot think of any time that we had so much blowing here! The past couple of evenings have had reddish pink skies. I've been told that that is caused by all of the dirt in the air. I believe it! Maybe I am wrong but I think more people are having serious problems with their allergies, sinuses and colds than normal at this time of the year. I know that our family has! My asthma has definitely been better than it is right now.

I spoke to a lady who lives in Shallow Water which is just a few miles straight south of Scott City today. She told me that they had alerts from their radio telling them that the wind speeds were OVER 70 mph last night! Some rural residents lost their electrical power for a time. They awakened to a multitude of trash dumpsters all over town this morning. It seemed like everything that was not tied down, took flight overnight.

A truckdriver who was in Southern Scott County last night told me that he had to park his truck for more than a half hour last night because of all of the dust in the hair. For the first time in his life )all which were spent in Western Kansas) he actually saw corn cobs 12-15 feet above ground level! He was concerned that there may have been a small tornado in the area.

Other people told me that they pulled their cars over to what they hoped was the side of the road until the winds and dirt died down.

Large tree branches were ripped from their trees and blown all over the place.

It is now 11:45 p.m., CDT and the wind is still blowing--quickly.

Tribune--Movie--of--the--Weekend

Wheat Harvestors

I have seen a few companies of wheat harvestors heading for Texas and Oklahoma this week. Soon, harvest will begin in Southwestern Kansas. Always pay close attention to other vehicles either on the highway or turning on or off of side roads. The life you save, may be YOURS!

Bike Across Kansas

Bikers from all over Kansas are making their ways to the Kansas/Colorado line just to the west of Tribune. The Bike Across Kansas gets started officially on Saturday morning. Common sense tells us that we need to drive carefully and be on the look out for bikers ahead of us. Try to pass them from a safe distance. They have just as much right to be on the road as other vehicles do.
