A lady in Southeastern Leoti donated some mums for the Leoti City Park. Her house is close to the Wichita County Library. She had them all dug up and put into a cardboard box. We drove to her house one day last week to pick them up. As we drove to her home, we discovered that she had "company". Right there in her front yard was a young pheasant hen. The bird was so young that she did not have her tail feathers yet. I wonder if this is another sign of things to come this winter...

Leoti City Park
Have you driven by the Leoti City Park recently? Before I go any further, I need to explain something. L.C.P. is what was formerly known as the Boy Scout Park. The park that is next to the swimming pool is the Wichita County Park. If you have driven by the city park, you were probably impressed with what you saw. New plaground equipment, courtesy of School District 467, is set up and kids are enjoying it! Large tables with awnings have been moved to the park for people to eat at. Charcoal grills are ready for you to barbeque on. A few years ago, a concrete walking path was added to L.C.P.
Right now a committee is being formed to help with such things as adding trees, shrubs, flowers, etc. If you are interested in being on that committee, please call 620.375.8027 or 620.375.2341.
Some plants have already been donated but more donations would be greatly appreciated! If you have something that you would like to donate, please call the above numbers. The committee will be happy to dig them up if you want them to.
I am proud to be on this committee and I am looking forward to doing my part to breathe new life into L.C.P.
