Suicides

Two very tragic events just took place at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas. Two students took their lives. One committed suicide the first part of the week. The other, a few days later. According to news reports, there appeared to be no connection between the two people. Nothing was reported as to why either killed themselves. In December, a student of Garden City Community College in Garden City, Kansas took his life.

This is the worst time of the year for people to take their own lives. There are two reasons for that. Christmas and the fact that we are more confined indoors and do not receive enough sunlight which helps to boost our moods. Then, of course, there are those people who suffer from mental disorders that cause people to commit suicide any time of the year.

If you are considering taking your own life or know someone who is, call the fine folks at The National Suicide Hotline. Their phone number is 800-273-8255. These people are available 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week. Some people find it easier to talk to strangers about things such as this instead of their family and friends.
