ATTN: Parents of Future 8th Graders in Leoti

It has just come to my attention that powers-to-be, I am ASSUMING the Wichita County School Board, have determined that the 8th grade class of 2011 will be the last to have a graduation from junior high into high school. Given the fact that I have a daughter who will be an eighth grader next year and a daughter who will be in the eighth grade in about 5 years, I don't want to see this happen. Many children never make it through the 8th grade. The kids who do should be recognized for their 9 or so years that they have spent on their educations.

I am also assuming that there has always been an eighth grade graduation in Wichita County for as long as we have had schools. I don't know why we are being told that the graduations will cease after this year. I assume that it is because of money issues. My recommendations is that anyone who wants to see that the graduations continue should contact the School Board members and/or the Superintendant of Wichita County Schools. If you don't do your part to contact the people who can make the difference in this, you only have yourself to blame when no graduations continue from now on.
