Twas a Marvelous Christmas Here

This year, we were blessed with the company of Grandma, Mama, Leif, Lori and Lars, Lona Sue and Hunter, and Rob at our home for Christmas Eve. We all got in on the preparation of breakfast for that evening. We had Seaboard's Applewood bacon which is always a treat, scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, sausage gravy and biscuits. Everyone enjoyed the meal, but, most importantly, we enjoyed being together.

Christmas festivities were also held in our home. The same people joined us for the day except Stan was unable to be with us due to last week's blizzard. The drivers have worked every day and night since getting everything done. We hope that he will be able to join us for New Year's Eve and Day.

What a feast we had! All of us enjoyed a delicious brisket, mashed potatoes, gravy, cabbage and broccoli mixture, dinner rolls, stuffing, deviled eggs and salad. To top everything off, we had a delicious Danish rice pudding which is a customary dessert in Denmark for Christmas. A delicious dark cherry sauce is also prepared for topping this pudding. This tradition has been a part of our Christmases for the past several years. Everyone loves it! Inside the pudding, are two blanched almonds. Whoever finds these in their spoons, received special gifts. Stan almost always finds these in our family! Yesterday, I found the first one. For that, my gift was a candy cane. Less than a minute later, I discovered the second. The girls were thrilled because that meant that we won a really nice hot chocolate set that consists of two cups, hot chocolate mix, graham crackers, marshmallows, etc.

After lunch, we all gathered around the living room for opening gifts. Santa Claus was great to each and everyone of us again! Most importantly, we all engaged in a great deal of conversation and laughter. It is ALWAYS a blessing to get to be together. Thank You, Lord!!!

So Christmas of 2011 is history now. We are looking forward to many beautiful days until Christmas of 2012!

I hope that all of you had a blessed Christmas also!

VLE-B
