I have had several requests for this recipe. It makes sense to me to post it right here for everyone.
Funny story. We have friends from Old Mexico. They make wonderful Mexican food. The parents often told us that their son absolutely refused to eat tacos. He said that they tasted "funny". One day, he ate dinner with us. I had forgotten that he did not like tacos. When I served them on the table, it was easy to see that he was disappointed. I felt awful. I asked him if he would just try a little bit. Given the fact that he has been raised correctly with a great deal of manners on board, he obliged. And, guess what! He LOVED them!!! He ate several before he went home. His mother called right away and wanted the recipe. I was only too happy to share it with her. Come to find out, she had always made their tacos with packaged taco seasoning. She doesn't do that anymore. LOL!!!
2 pounds ground beef or pork
1/2 diced onion OR 2 tablespoons chopped onion flakes
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons chili powder
2 tablespoons paprika (optional. This adds no flavor just a nice red color.)
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon garlic
Brown the meat with the onion until the meat is thoroughly cooked and the onion is clear; drain. Stir in all of the other spices.
Serve your taco filling with hard corn taco shells and/or flour tortillas, shredded cheddar or Mexican cheese, shredded or chopped lettuce, chopped tomatoes, taco sauce, etc.
Enjoy!!!
