On cold winter days, many of us enjoy pots of chili, chili burgers or chili dogs. Here's a great recipe to try! I've never seen one quite like this...
2 lbs. hamburger, ground round or ground sirloin
1 c. chopped fresh onion or 4T. dried onion
12 ounces tomato paste or sauce
2 packets of dried onion soup mix OR 2-10 1/2 cans of French onion soup
2 cans of pinto, chili or black beans, water drained off first
8 c. water
6 Tablespoons chili powder
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon sugar
3/4 teaspoon of Tobasco pepper sauce (OPTIONAL)
shredded cheddar cheese for topping chili (OPTIONAL)
1. Brown meat with onion until fully cooked.
2. Place cooked meat and all other ingredients EXCEPT for cheese into a large crockpot. Mix well.
3. Cover and cook on LOW for 7-9 hours.
4. Top chili with cheese if desired.
Serves 8-12.
