Courtesies of the past???

Today, a wonderful friend of mine called. She now lives in Tuscany and hardly ever gets back here to visit family and friends. As soon as I see her name come across my Caller-ID, I get sooo excited! As per usual for the two of us, we literally talked for hours!!! The time rushes by us so quickly that it is hard to believe that we talked any more than just a few minutes...

Amongst the MANY topics that we discussed today was the issue of "thank-you notes". Yesteryear, sending the notes of gratitude were just something that people always made sure that they did. It really wasn't something that was considered to be done "if we wanted to." Today, more of us neglect to send these tiny little cards than who actually take precious time to send them out. That's really sad. Really, just how much time and excertion does it actually take to send them out?

Well, I must admit that I am one of the lazy people out there who doesn't put out that little bit of effort to tell someone how much their gift or some act that they did for me really meant to me. So...one of my new year resolutions is simple. I am going to purchase some thank you notes and keep them handy so that I can officially send my gratitude to people. If us, "younger folk", don't start sending these notes soon, I suspect that Thank You notes will become antiquities such as formal dance cards. What? You don't know what a dance card is??? See, that's what I'm talking about. These courtesies will become a thing of the past...
