Many of you who read my blog, are also friends of Leif and Lori Christensen. They are my brudder-in-law and sister. Earlier this week, their beautiful family member, a chocolate Labrador, Cocoa, chewed her way out of her kennel. Her son, a handsome Labradoodle, followed her out. They jumped the fence and took off for new adventures. Unfortunately, someone hit Cocoa and left her on the street and never reported it. (Cowards.) Poor Cocoa died as a result of her injuries.
Since then, her family and son have just been devastated. I cannot tell you how many tears have been shed for her.
Cocoa was Lars', my nephew, best friend. Since she slept with him every night, he has trouble going to sleep now. Yesterday, the family drove to Garden City to check out some new Labradoodle puppies that were for sale. They fell in love with a little girl. (So did Cocoa's son, Hershey, who went along for the ride. He, too, is a Labradoodle. (FYI, Labradoodles are a cross between a Labrador and a Poodle. They have the same loving personality of the lab but are hyper-allergenic because as being part-poodle, they do not shed.)
They have named her Cara, pronounced Cahra, which is the Gaelic term for Beloved Friend.
Welcome to the family, Cara!!!
