Another email that was sent to me in regards to my blog

I received this email from an attorney who reads my blog on a daily basis. He is a MAJOR player in legal fights not only throughout the United States, but in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He owns very large law firms in New York Ciy and Los Angeles. He not only represents the so-called 'little men of society' but also represents famous movie stars and other well-known individuals of the world.

He originally sent it to me last May when I was going through one of the most emotional times in my life. I had written a post of a current situation that was ripping Leotians apart at the time. My opinions were strewn throughout the post. Of course, because of what I had written, I received many email, phone calls and other comments immediately following the posting. Some of those people supported what I had written. Others were very angry at me for what I had written as well as my personal opinion on the matters at hand. During that time, at least one Leotian was so inflamed by what I had said and posted, that he actually offered to do away with me. At that time, I didn't know if Leoti would ever heal. I am sooo very proud of the people of Leoti!!! They are strong people, for the most part, and have moved on to more important and better topics of the world.

You all know that I am about as computer ILliterate as a squirrel. Back then, I had not yet mastered the fine art of copying and pasting. Therefore, I never got around to copying (with a pencil in hand) and typing this information onto my blog for all to read.

But, as I mentioned a few days ago, there is one woman in town who has scorned me three times in one of Leoti's stores over the past week and a married couple who left another Leoti store without purchasing as much as a stick of gum when they saw me in the store at the same time. I have SOOOOOOO appreciated the supportive comments under that post as well as the email that I received, the phone calls and the other support that has been given to me "on the street". I decided that NOW is the time to post this here also. VLE-B

"Lynn,

Like Chris I have read your blog over the past many months and have shared with her comments, laughter, eye-rolling, etc. It has been a pleasure to get to know you through this medium of universal communication. In furtherance, Chris asked me to again read your blog of last week discussing the City issue. I reviewed same while flying back home and certainly agree with Chris, I see nothing wrong with what you wrote. I saw nothing except a statement of fact in your review.

For all of those who wish to be critical of you, I remind them they enjoy the freedom of living in the United States of America, where the American Flag flies in representation of the rights and freedoms people living in the United States expect. Through my years of travel I have discovered the majority of Americans takes those rights outlined in the United States Constitution and Bill of Rights, for granted. But the right which is at question as it relates to your blog is the freedome of speech and therefore, I further remind those who criticize you, the First Amendment to the United States Constitution states:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

And to give a simple explanation of the freedom of speech (which obviously many of these individuals speaking against you can only understand simple), Wikipedia states:

Freedom of speech is the freedom to speak without censorship and/or limitation. The synonymous term freedom of expression is sometimes used to indicate not only freedom of verbal speech but any act of seeking, receiving and imparting information or ideas, regardless of the medium used.

The right to freedom of speech is recognized as a human right under Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and recognized in international human rights law in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR). The ICCPR recognizes the right to freedom of speech as "the right to hold opinions without interference. Everyone shall have the right to freedom of expression". Furthermore freedom of speech is recognized in European, inter-American and African regional human rights law.

Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted in 1948, states that:
"Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers."
Today freedom of speech, or the freedom of expression, is recognized in international and regional human rights law. The right is enshrined in Article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights, Article 13 of the American Convention on Human Rights and Article 9 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights. Based on John Stuart Mill's arguments, freedom of speech is understood as a multi-faceted right that includes not only the right to express, or disseminate, information and ideas, but three further distinct aspects:
the right to seek information and ideas;
the right to receive information and ideas;
the right to impart information and ideas.
International, regional and national standards also recognize that freedom of speech, as the freedom of expression, includes any medium, be it orally, in written, in print, through the Internet or through art forms. This means that the protection of freedom of speech as a right includes not only the content, but also the means of expression.

In addition, in response to the death threats. To those individuals making such remarks, those are not covered by the United States Constitution or the Bill of Rights, making death threats is not a freedom of speech; and in fact, death threats are a criminal offense and are frequently covered under coercion laws.

Lynn, I have spent over 40 years studying the law of the United States, as well as many other countries and am licensed to practice not only in numerous states in the U.S.; but in various countries throughout the world; and can tell you beyond a shadow of a doubt, these people speaking against you are the ones who are wrong.

My love,

Regards,
PM"

Thank you SOOOOOOOOOOO VERY MUCH, Peter!!! I am hoping that people everywhere who have just read your words of wisdom, will be renewed with knowledge that the rights that we have and as you said, have taken for granted, are outstanding and should not be overlooked as being rights present in every country of the world.

Love to you also!
