Mr. Henry McClure was born on May 5th in 1921 in Kansas City, Ks and passed away on Wednesday, April 14th, at the Scott County Hospital. He was 88.
He graduated from Luray High School in Luray, Ks. in 1939, served 3 years in the U.S. Army with the 47th Engineers in the South Pacific during WWII. On September 18th of 1942, he married Miss Ethel Lucile McCoy in Lincoln, Kansas.
He had memberships in the Otterbein United Methodist Church, VFW Post # 6240, both in Russell, Kansas; American Legion #0309 of Luray and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #646, Great Bend, Kansas.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel, his son and wife, Dennis and Marilyn McClure of Cerro Gordo, Illinois; his daughter and husband, Gail and Dave Bradshaw of Newport, Oregon; his daughter and husband, Colleen and John Beaton of Scott City, Ks,; 7 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Harry L. McClure of Topeka, Kansas, nieces, nephews and many friends.
His funeral services will be held at 10:30 on Saturday, April 17th, at the United Methodist Church in Scott City. Military graveside services will be held at 4:00 on Saturday, April 17th, at Luray City Cemetery in Luray. His son, Dennis, will be officiating.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be given to Prairie View Church of the Brethren or donor's choice.
