For all of us who have gone to any of the concerts that Mrs. Jayme Brown-Bishop has put on, here is the information for her next concert. The spring concert will be held at 7:00 CST on Tuesday, May 4th, at the Wichita County High School Auditorium. This involves all kids from kindergarten through and including 6th grade.
Just to give you some information that will encourage all of us to go to the concert, here is the dress code for that evening:
Kindergartners are to wear nice clothes. First graders are to wear clothes that baseball fans would wear. Second Graders need to wear shorts and shirts like they would wear to the carnival or amusement parks. Third graders will be dressed as they would to go on vacation. Fourth graders will be wearing clothes reminiscent of Huckleberry Finn or Tom Sawyer--rolled up jeans or overalls. Fifth graders will be highlighting their summer clothes with beach towels and sunglasses. Sixth graders will dress just as they would for any day at school.
Jayme always situates her music concerts around plays. The audiences always get a kick out of them!
Mr. Allen Brockmeier will be conducting his band students. Mr. Brockmeier has produced wonderful instrumentalists through the years! It is easy to see how that happens as soon as you listen to his grade school musicians. Even just starting out, his bands are amazing! Normally, the band performs before the vocalists. I know that this is not always the case in other schools. It is done in Wichita County for one very important reason. When the vocalists had finished their performance, there was always a small break so that the chairs could be set up on stage for the instrumentalists. A good amount of very rude individuals in the audience would pick up and leave the audience at that time. Basically, the bulk of the people who remained in their seats were only parents and grandparents of the instrumentalists. So, now, if you want to listen to your children in the vocal department, you must listen to the band as well. I, for one, am quite fond of this new procedure. These band students work hard to put on a good performance. They deserve just as much attention and recognition as the vocalists, in my humble or not so humble opinion!
Anyway, I am hoping that many of you will join us at the 2010 RBSES Spring Concert!!!
