Mr. Rose was born on May 14th of 1926 at the family farm 20 miles northwest of Scott City and passed away on Friday, April 9th at Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City. He was 83.
He enlisted in the Navy in August of 1945. He was sent to Kobe Harbor in Japan where he sewpt the ocean for mines. He was then sent to Hawaii where he was placed on harbor patrol. He loved driving the boats!
In 1946, he returned home to Scott County. He resumed farming with his father. He began courting Ardis Rathburn that same year. They married on March 27th in 1947 in Brewster, Kansas. They lived in Oakley during the winter months and moved back to Scott City during the farming season.
At one point, Mr. Rose was called into the ministry. At that time, he and his family moved to Kansas City so that he could go to school to become a minister at Calvary Bible College.
He is survived by his wife,Ardis, 3 sons--Steve and Linda of Joplin, Missouri; Ron and Cindy of Denton, Texas; and Gary and Kenna of Gillette, Wyoming; 3 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, 1 brother, Bernard and Barbara Rose of Scott City, 2 sisters; Dorothy Evans of Brewster, Ks and Royla and Jim Radinor of Amarillo, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church in Scott City at 2:00 on Monday, April 19th. Burial will be in Scott County Cemetery.
