What's new with lasagna noodles?

I had planned on making up a batch of crockpot lasagna yesterday. Unfortunately, I waited until it was too late to start that so I decided to cook lasagna as it is done traditionally.

I needed to buy the noodles so I made a trip to Mel's Foodliner to purchase some. Once there, one of the employees went and showed me that they now have two brands of noodles that DO NOT require being boiled before they are put into the popular Italian pasta dish.

I purchased one of them, brought it home and began cooking. As directed, I did not do anything with the noodles other than just layered them into the casserole. The casserole was baked, removed from the oven and served. It was DELICIOUS and the noodles were perfect!!!

Thank you, N.S. for bringing them to my attention!!!

  1. You can make lasagna in the oven without cooking noodles first. Just pour a cup of hot water over everything after you have assembled the lasagna, wrap it tightly in foil. You may want to bake uncovered for awhile if it seems loose.
