Tribune--Movie--of--the--Weekend
This weekend's movie that will be shown at the Star Theatre in Tribune will be THE SMURFS. This is described as Kids/Family/Animation/Adaptation. It runs for 1 hour 26 minutes and is rated PG for some mild rude humor and action. Actors include Hank Azaria, Neil Patrick Harris, Grace Winslow and Sofia Vergera. Many people supplied the voices for the Smurfs including Jonathon Winters who speaks for Papa Smurf.
Synopsis: When the evil wizard Gargamel chases the tiny blue Smurfs out of their village, they tumble from their magical world and into ours--in fact, smack dab in the middle of Central Park. Just 3 apples high and stuck in the Big Apple, the Smurfs must find a way to get back to their village before Gargamel tracks them down...
Don't forget that the Star now shows movies THREE evenings a week! This week on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 23rd, 24th and 25th, the movie will be starting at 8:00 CST which is the new all-year-round starting time.
Adults, 13 and older: $5.00
children, 4 through 12: $4.00
Babies from birth through 3-years-old: F--R--E--E
Don't forget to buy one of the Star chocolate candy bars while you are there. Each costs $3.00. The profits from these bars will be used for maintenance, etc around the building. The grand prize winner of the prized candy bar will get to invite his favorite 15 people to join him for a special movie viewing! Free pizza will also be brought in for these people! Other prizes are also given to some customers who purchase these candy bars.

A new business is being welcomed in Leoti. It's name is Odds and Ends and should be open very soon. It is located at 110 N. Fourth Street (north of Liz Gould's Accounting Office). This business will be specializing in used books, records, 8 tracks, CDs, DVDs and video games. Wichita County Elementary School Site Council
We had our first meeting of the school year yesterday afternoon. Several issues were discussed including what to do about a sign to identify the new school building. Various ideas are being considered including a sign that would be posted on the ground, the name being put on the building itself and the thought of a marquee being set up. If we go with the marquee, upcoming school events would be placed on there so that the public would know what was coming up. Of course, it would cost more money to go with it but at this time, I think that it would be the best way to go. If you have any thoughts on the matter, please let the Site Council members, elementary school or school board office know what you recommend. Here are their phone numbers:

I'm Baack!!!
Well, Folks, it has taken awhile but I have now decided to return to writing my blog. Many of you had asked to be put on my newsletter list. I greatly appreciate that! But, at least for me, it wasn't the same thing. I hated to send out any more that 2 newsletters a week so that I did not stuff your boxes so a lot of information was not getting out like it needed to be.
