is now forecast for much of Kansas including us. From what I understand, it will begin on Thursday evening and will continue through late Saturday. From what I have read, 8-10 inches is possible north of Interstate 70 in Western Kansas with 6-10 inches possible from south of that line in this slow moving storm. Strong winds are also in the forecast which will cause blowing and drifting snow. There is a possibility that a lull in the storm could be possible on Friday afternoon. It will not last long before the weather gets nasty again. I definitely recommend that if you live in the watch areas, that you keep updated on this storm.
As many of you already know, we had a major blizzard a little over a month ago. During that time, the girls and I had a tough time keeping our two outdoor bird feeders full. Without us feeding them, I don't know what the birds would've eaten. So, if at all possible, PLEASE put out food for your birds. In Leoti, Western Hardware and Dollar General sell big bags of birdseed. They are not very expensive and your birds will really appreciate it.
If you have outdoor animals, please make sure that they have plenty of food and water available to them. For outdoor dogs, a dog house with plenty of bedding would be great.
And, of course, make sure that you have plenty of food available for your family and yourself. I heard reports of people around here who had not stocked up before the storm. I have a feeling those people won't make that mistake this time. LOL!!
Keep an eye on the storm.
