Louis D. Smith, age 90, passed away on Monday, September 13, 2010 at the Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City, Kansas. He was born on March 20, 1920 in Greeley County, Kansas, the son of William and Ora Peeler Smith. A resident of Scott City, Kansas since 1977 moving from Cortez, Colorado, he was a farmer and mechanic.
He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
On January 27, 1939 he married Wilma A. Turley in Independence, Kansas. She passed away on March 4, 1997 in Wichita, Kansas.
Survivors Include his One Son - Larry & Jacqui Smith of Bucklin, Kansas, Five Grandsons - Jess & Lauri Robinson of Big Lake, MN, Rick Robinson of Dodge City, Kansas, Loren Smith of Farmington, New Mexico, Louis Robinson of Des Moines, Iowa, L.D. Smith of Scott City, Kansas, Two Granddaughters - Berta Zimmerman of Scott City, Kansas, Alana Nelson of Midland, Texas, Eleven Great Grandchildren and Four Great Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, and One Daughter – Virginia Robinson, Four Brothers and Two Sisters.
Funeral Service will be held at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 16, 2010 with the Rev. Robert Nuckolls presiding.
Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas.
Memorials may be given to the Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City, Kansas % Price & Sons Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Thursday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City.
