Wichita County is blessed to have many great people who care about the welfare of our community and are willing to show that care through their good deeds. These people are really community heroes. They serve on Amusement Association and Fair Board so we can have our awesome annual fair. They choose to be a part of Economic Development to help Wichita County have a future. They serve as our volunteer firemen and EMT's. You find these dedicated people everywhere in our community.
There is another group of volunteers who fit this profile who do wonderful things for your students and they need your help to continue. If you have a student in band or choir, sports/cheerleading, scholar's bowl, the musical, etc. they have benefited from the efforts of these folks. Please consider marking Sunday September 12th at 2:00pm at the Fire Barn on your calendar to help support this effort. As you might know, the TRIBE Booster Club has donated funds and labor for everything from uniforms, dinner for the musical, Scholars’ Bowl buzzers, to the exercise bike in the new USD 467 Fitness Center. They sell "spirit" wear so our parents and patrons can wear Indian game day clothes. The Friday night tailgates are a great way to bring the community together to share in a meal. If you have a student who participates in any sports or activities at WCHS they benefit because of the TRIBE’s effort.
Now the TRIBE needs you if we want our students to continue to benefit. Some of the original members no longer have students in school and although those members will continue to help, the organization needs new people to step in so the TRIBE can continue. The next TRIBE meeting is this Sunday, September 12th at 2:00pm at the Fire Barn. Please consider becoming a part of this group of great folks, your friends and neighbors, who are making a difference for your students.
Yours in Education,
Dr. James R. Hardy
USD 467 Superintendent
