Leoti's Fall Clean-up Week

Just a reminder that next week, October 11th through the 15th, is Fall Clean-Up Week in Leoti. I just received additional details on the clean-up week in reference to old tires that you may want to rid yourselves of.

Yard waste such as leaves and grass clippings will NOT be picked up UNLESS you are signed up with the City to have them picked up every Thursday. However, they WILL pick up any tree branches that are left by the curb.

First of all, the City of Leoti prefers that you call them at 620-375-2341 if you have any old tires. The Wichita County Landfill charges a sum of money for any tires brought to be disposed, therefore, the City must ask you to pay those charges.

Passenger tires: $1.50 each
Semi-Truck Tires: 5.00 each
Tractor Tires: 16.00 each

If you are also discarding tire rims with the tire, there will be a $3.50 charge per rim. For example, if you are discarding a passenger tire and rim, you will pay a total of $5.00.

These fees will be charged to the City of Leoti by the Wichita County Landfill. You can either pay these fees to the City of Leoti directly or the City can add these charges to your water bill. The City requests that you call them at 375-2341 to let them know if you will be discarding tires and/or rims so that they can make arrangements for them to be picked up during clean-up week.

Also, I gave you WRONG information of where your discarded items need to be put. They need to be placed in FRONT of your home next to the street's curb. I apologize if this has caused any problems for you.

I would like to take this time to thank the City of Leoti for this FREE service in our community! Many towns throughout the nation never offer this to their citizens. This is a great way to keep Leoti looking fit and fresh. People who are traveling through town or who are considering moving to Leoti, will more-than-likely pay close attention to how our neighborhoods look. Given the fact that our Western Kansas populations seem to be constantly going down in numbers, this is a good way that each of us can help to invite more people to come to Leoti. This will definitely help Leoti to prosper in our future.
