1980 Class Reunion

Eighty three seniors graduated from Wichita County High School on May 23rd of 1980. Funny thing about that. Six or seven students were allowed to walk through the official ousting from high school but did not receive official diplomas. Instead, they were required to fulfill their class' obligations before their diplomas were signed. One student wasn't even allowed to walk through graduation. He graduated a couple of years later in Leoti.

It is awful to say this, but I honestly have never seen some of my classmates since graduation day. Through the years since we all went our seperate ways, we lost two friends. Gary Lee was killed in a horse accident. Janie Rodriques passed away from cancer.

This year, we decided to have a 30-year celebration. I was asked and very happily accepted the chance to locate our fellow classmates and get the shin-dig going. Troy Mitchell, Terry Bloedorn and I took the bull by it's horns! Unfortunately, there was a good number of us who try as I did, I could not locate. I still feel bad about that... Anyway, Terry volunteered early in the game to have the bar-be-que get-together in his backyard. Troy and I readily accepted his generous offer. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the reunion when Lori became so VERY sick. But, Terry and his wife, Jana, helped me even more. All that Stan and I had to do was deliver various supplies to them. They went to Mel's and picked up the additional groceries that we needed on Friday. I just want to thank Terry and Jana for all that they did to bring this reunion together! Both have full-time jobs and a son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren who were also here for the fair. Your generosity was very, VERY appreciated by not only Stan and I, but the entire cast off classmates and their families who were able to be here!!! Thank you to Russell and Jolene (Nodine) Berning for providing the pick-up, trailer and hay bales that were used for our glamorous float!!! Thank you to Blane Tripp for going out of your way to locate students!!!

I would have LOVED to have gotten to see all of you!!!

Now, we are looking forward to the All Class Reunion in 2012!!!

VLE-B
