In the past, I just kinda took it for granted whenever I saw Lori's phone number come across my caller id. That isn't the case anymore. For the first time since we took Lori to Hays, Lori called me yesterday and again , this morning. That should tell you and me how much better she is feeling now. Thank the Good Lord!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For the first time in a few weeks, her appetite has returned. But the earliest that she will be able to eat or drink is tomorrow after another test is done to see if her bowels have sealed themselves up. She should also receive the results of whether or not she has Lupus, an auto-immune disease, that her internal doctor suspects that she has. If she is allowed to eat again, we assume that her doctor will see how she handles food for the first time in 11 days before he sends her home. If the sealing has not effectively taken place, she will have to remain on her IVs which would probably mean that she will not be allowed to leave the hospital yet. Her surgeon will make that decision.
This does not mean that all is well yet. She has appointments in Wichita later this month with additional specialists. Your prayers are still greatly appreciated!!!
