I am happy to say that late this afternoon, medical technicians were able to install a PIK Line since it was impossible today to get an IV started for the CT Scan. The chemicals were given to Lori and she was able to have her CT Scan. Praise the Lord!!! Though all of us had come home late last night so that we could take care of business and laundry, Lona Sue went to Hays and spent the bulk of the day with Lori and Leif.
Doctors were pleased that the antibiotics are working well on her abceses. One will still need to be removed surgically. Hopefully, it can be done using minimal sedation. Unfortunately, the doctor who would normally perform this procedure has broken his arm. We will know tomorrow whether or not he will be able to do this surgery or not. If not, an ambulance will transport her from Hays to either Wichita or the K U Med Center.
Remember last week that I had reported that the CT Scan showed that Lori had had a serious tear in her liver from a previous accident? We could never remember anything that could have done that. Well, today's CT Scan was better and provided the information that it is not a tear. Instead, it is also infected along with Lori's bowels, colon and blood. See what I mean about my Lori being a very sick lady???
Earlier today, I told you that she had lost another 15 pounds from Friday morning to Sunday morning. Then today, the scale reported that she had gained 26 pounds since yesterday morning. I am VERY pleased to tell you that that was not a reality! Three patients had "gained" 17 pounds, nurses had also gained large amounts of weight since yesterday.
As for my mom, Stan, Lars, Leighlyn, Abigayle and me, we have concluded our business and are returning to Hays tomorrow (Tuesday) morning at around 8:00. Instead of going on I-70, we will be traveling through Ness City to Lacrosse, etc. We are doing this just in case they decide to move her to Wichita. We wouldn't have to be driving out of our way. But, the doctors are really leaning towards going to Kansas City if the doctor in Hays is unable to operate. If they decide to move her to Ks. City, we will also follow along. We are packing enough clothes and staples for 3 days. We're also taking along a week's supply of medication.
Bless our son and daughter-in-law, Adam and Mel!!! They are coming over to Leoti from Scott City tomorrow to mow Leif and Lori's yards and Mama's yards. That is soooooo very much appreciated!!! Their generosity will really reduce additional stress on us. Glenda Burch-Craven has volunteered to take care of Leif and Lori's pets while we are gone. Other friends will be taking care of our herd.
I need to apologize to our neighbors for the appearance of our house! Over a month ago, Stan and I began painting it's exterior. We are still far from being finished with it today. There are strips of blue paint tape flying from where we had originally placed them. Hopefully, things will settle down for us soon so that we can get everything finished!
As always, we welcome your phone calls! My phone number is 620-376-8922. Stan's is 620-874-0698. Your kind concern has been totally amazing to us as well as Lori. A simple thank you is just not enough to express how we feel...
Please continue to pray to our Heavenly Father!!! He is the true Miracle Worker.
VLE-B
