Great friends!!!!!!

Not everyone is blessed to have the kind of friends whom Lori and I have. Throughout this past week, we have been able to breathe easier knowing that everything back at home was being taken care of while we were in Hays.

Soon after I had updated my blog last week, Jeanette Miller called me via cellphone and reminded me, good thing, of the upcoming school supply give-away that a Wichita County organization has sponsored for the past few years. (I THINK that it is a church. Marvel Brandt heads it up.) Various school supplies are offered to every grade school student in Leoti. Jeanette offered to go to the event to gather Abigayle's supplies. Of course, we gave her our permission to do so.

Glenda Burch-Cravens called me while we were in Hays and offered to help all of us in any way. She went to Leif and Lori's house and cleaned it, washed laundry and took care of their pets. With Lori being so sick for so long, she had been unable to keep up with housework and laundry as she wanted to.

Gonzolo and Cecelia Romero jumped right in and took care of our herd while we were gone and made sure that all was running smoothly here. We are STILL having problems with our central air conditioner so they had to make repeat visits here to make sure that the A/C had not frozen again. How we appreciate the Romero family!!!

Our son and daughter-in-law, Adam and Mel, picked up their two lawnmowers and weed eater and headed to Leoti on Tuesday to re-vamp Mama and Lori's yards so that they did not need to worry about them. They did a beautiful job! All of our houses were locked up so poor Adam and Mel had to sip their water and lemonade in the shade of the trees very OFTEN!!! It was sooo very hot that day...

Other friends have called or sent email to me offering their services to us. Folks, we so appreciate that and if something else comes up that requires us to return to Hays, we'll be giving you a phone call!!!

For the things that Glenda, the Romero family, Adam and Mel did for all of us out of the kindness of their hearts, many people would have had to pay others to do for them. The phone calls and visits to the hospital have just been amazing! It really makes us stop and realize just how good we really have it!

And, finally but not leastly, we want to pass on our appreciation for all of the employers involved. Mark Jones who is Leif's boss has been nothing but wonderful to him!!! He has allowed Leif to take off however much time he has needed to be with Lori. Mark never complains.

Stan was on vacation from last Thursday through yesterday. If he had needed additional time off, I am sure that Todd Long with Seaboard Foods would have done whatever he needed to secure an extra day or two. Stan is the wonderful brother that Lori never had. He has been just fantastic with her. I don't know what Lori would have done at times without Stan. And, as you all know, I have my own issues. I REALLY needed Stan there to support me whenever necessary.

My supervisors include Todd and Diana Long, Lynda Brockmeier and JaLene Riddiough-Luebbers. All of these people were quite gracious and accepted whatever I was able to do this week.

Thanks to each and every one of you for all of the wonderful prayers! Without our Lord, Lori would not have been here today.

VLE-B
