Boyd Thornburg, age 64, died Thursday, August 19, 2010 at the Homestead Health & Rehabilitation Center in Garden City, Kansas. He was born January 30, 1946 in Fort Worth, Texas the son of Homer and Elizabeth Boyd Thornburg. Boyd received his accounting degree from Texas Tech University and later worked as a bookkeeper for Peoples National Bank in Liberal, KS and other banks. He had lived in Oklahoma City, OK, Amarillo, TX, Ulysses and Liberal, KS before moving to Garden City in 1998 most recently working for the Garden City Telegram.
He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Garden City, Kansas.
On June 30, 1967 he married Sharol Hawkins in Borger, Texas. She survives.
Other Survivors Include: Three Sons, Kevin (& Anita) Thornburg of Hooker, Oklahoma, Jeff (& Sara) Thornburg of Lewisville, Texas, and Eric (& Lana) Thornburg of West Point, New York; His Mother, Elizabeth Thornburg of Weatherford, Oklahoma; One Brother, Brad (& Debbie) Thornburg of Weatherford, OK and Six Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am on Monday, August 23, 2010 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Garden City with Pastor Rick Durham presiding.
Friends may call from 1:00am-8:00pm on Sunday @ Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City.
Interment will be held at 4:00pm on Monday in the Westlawn Memorial Park in Borger, Texas.
The family requests memorials be given to the First Southern Baptist Church in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City, Kansas.
