Mr. Nate Brown is one of Leighlyn's teachers this year. Last week, he gave an assignment to his students. He told them that if they would bring him a photograph of any courthouse in Kansas, he would give them 5 extra credit points for each one. We went to Josh and Staci Blau's wedding in Hays on Saturday. Before we left Hays, we looked until we found the Ellis County Courthouse. Leighlyn took a picture of it. Then we headed south. We stopped off in Lacrosse so that she could get that picture. From there, we went east to Larned after we spent a few wonderful hours at Fort Larned. Then, it was on to Kinsley, Cimarron, Dodge City and Garden City. By the time that we were in Scott City, it was dark so we did not get that picture yet.
We really enjoyed helping Leighlyn with "her homework". Maybe we are just partial but all 5 of us agreed that Wichita County still has the most beautiful courthouse of all. I remember my aunt telling me that for many years, people would come to Leoti just to see our courthouse. I doubt that many people would argue with me when I say that it is a true and magnificent beauty.
