Louis D. Emme--Leoti

Many of us remember Louis when he worked at First State Bank in Leoti. His son, David, is married to Stan's sister, Sandy. His daughter married Dale Faust, former resident of Wichita County. I THINK that his wife, Jeri, was a former resident of Greeley County. Lynn

Louis D. Emme, 83, died September 11, 2011, at Dillon Living Center, Hutchinson. He was born April 18, 1928, in Smith County, Kansas, the son of Louie and Maggie Emme.

He graduated from Kensington High School in 1944 and received his bachelor's in vocational agriculture from Kansas State University. After college, he taught school at Jewell, Kansas, and later had various ag-related careers. He retired in 1995, as a banker with First State Bank of Leoti, Kansas. Louis was a member of Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church, the Lions Club and the Loyal Order of the Moose #982.

He married Myrna Hartman and later married Crystal J. "Jeri" Bever on June 15, 1973, in Hays, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include: son, David Emme and wife Sandy of Manhattan, KS; daughter, Dr. Elizabeth Faust and husband Dale of Fargo, ND; stepchildren, Carolyn Paszkewicz and husband John of Independence, MO, Barbara Rutherford of McFarland, KS, Gary Marley of Garden City, KS, Vicki Bever Trillo and husband Cipe of Laveen, AZ, Jack Bever and wife Loretta of Ness City, KS, Jim Bever and wife Janet of Hutchinson; brother, Doran "Bill" Emme and wife Joan of Hays, KS; 23 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters and a stepson.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, September 15, 2011, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Richard Brooks and Pastor Alan D. Stambaugh presiding. Friends may sign the book 9-9 today and Wednesday, with family to receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dillon Living Center or Victory In The Valley in care of the mortuary.
