Recent Observances in Nature

For awhile now, people around here have noticed LARGE swarms of dragonflies. When asked the question, "Is this a natural sign of our upcoming Fall and Winter?", an elder farmer remarked that this means that we will have an early Fall. The lady who had mentioned this on FACEBOOK did some investigation about this in the current Farmer's Almanac. What she learned was that we in this area, should be expecting "a wet and wild winter". I don't know about you, but as far as I am concerned, I CAN HARDLY WAIT!!! Much, if not all, of Kansas needs to have a bunch of moisture. This could be the answer to our prayers.

Last weekend, we noticed large groups of yellow butterflies and Monarchs seemingly everywhere. They are on their way to Mexico for the winter. I have never noticed so many of them. On Saturday, we were in Garden City. When we were walking and driving through the Wal-Mart parking lot, we were stunned at how many of the vehicles had yellow butterflies stuck in their automobiles' grills. I have to wonder what all of this means.
