A numbing day in Wichita County

Without going in to many details, I need to clarify something here. Anyone who lives in Wichita County or has FACEBOOK with Leoti connections, knows that a dreadful murder took place in Leoti this morning at about 8:00. It is the first local murder since 2000.

Word traveled like wildfire through town. The involved people were very well liked and respected by local folk. Out of respect for the family concerned, I will not mention names here. I would beg of you to please remember this family in your prayers. When praying to God, it is not necessary to mention names to Him. He already knows who you are talking about.

I sincerely hope that our local school system will have counseling available for the students who just received this stunning news after school today. I do NOT know that anything like that is being planned. I just hope that it is. We have an incredible school superintendant, principals and teachers. I am sure that they will do the right thing, whatever it may be!

I have just heard from a 5th grader who contacted me about this matter. His/her heart is totally broken in many pieces. I spoke with him/her until it was time for me to get my little angels to bed. I gave her advice. I also told him/her that if he/she feels inclined to do so, he/she should talk to her trusted teachers about this tomorrow. This whole thing is too much for adults to handle and understand. Why would we expect our children to be able to do so? I advised him/her to go to God Squad or GAP tomorrow night. God Squad and GAP are Christian organizations that are held every Wednesday at the Methodist Church for kids from Kindergarten through 5th grade. Kids from 6th grade through Seniors meet at Christ Covenant. I am positive that the churches will be planning a major session to help these kids deal with all of this.

God bless!
