Is There a Trunk in Your Future?

Many years ago, people relied on trunks to transport clothing and many other things from place to place. Many of those have been long gone for decades. Recently, I have been seeing many of those showing up on various HGTV shows, etc. Some are in impeccable condition. Others definitely need a little love to bring their condition up.

Though most of us now rely on luggage for our transportation needs today, a lot of us are putting these trunks to work at home. Some are using them to store linens, shoes, toys, etc., etc., etc. I am sure that you can come up with many other things that you can store in these large containers. Some are taking up residence at the foot of a bed, against a wall somewhere, etc. Some have flat tops so people are choosing to place flower pots, books, lamps, telephones, etc on top of them. Your imagination can run wild on what you would do with these!

The other evening, we were watching PAWN STARS on TV. A not-so-in-perfect condition trunk was brought in. The inside of it was remarkable. It was loaded with the compartments that were original to that style when it was brand new. Today, most of these are gone. Finding one of these trunks with this interior is amazing. Those that come complete with everything are worth a large amount of money. Of course, many of these need some restoration.

Robbin in Scott City owns several trunks at her store. She even has one that has all of its compartments like I just mentioned. Some of her trunks have rounded tops. Others have flat tops. If you are interested in a trunk or two, give Robbin at Prairie Antique Store a call at 620.704.6306 or just drop in and see her trunks.
