Gerald Roy Sperry--Garden City

Gerald Roy Sperry, age 85, died Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the Homestead Health and Rehabilitation Center in Garden City, Kansas. He was born April 27, 1926 in Garden City, Kansas the son of Buel A. and Eva M. Potter Sperry. A lifetime resident of Garden City, he was a self-employed masonry contractor. Gerald was a WWII U.S. Army veteran and recipient of the purple heart.

He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, VFW, American Legion, Eagles and Good Sams Club, all of Garden City.

On April 17, 1948 he married Betty J. Frizzell in Raton, New Mexico. She survives.

Survivors Include: Two Sons, Steve (& Joycelyn) Sperry, and Brian (& Janeine) Sperry; One Daughter, Nanette Hunsberger, all of Garden City; Four Brothers, Lloyd (& Neicey) Sperry of Lobdel, Kansas, Bill Sperry of Dickerson, Texas, Melvyn (& Ann) Sperry of Texas and Larry Sperry of Missouri; One Sister, Mildred (& Gary) Ray of Garden City, Kansas; Ten Grandchildren and Fourteen Great-Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Don, Charles (Gene) and Richard Sperry, and two sisters, Hazel Sperry and Dorothy Collyer.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:30am, Wednesday, July 13, 2011 @ the St. James Lutheran in Garden City, Kansas.

There will be no calling times at the funeral home.

Interment will be held later at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Garden City, Kansas.

The family requests memorials be given to Gerald Sperry Memorial Fund in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City.
