Blizzard Possibility

I just received information from a very reputable source that people in Western Kansas should be paying close attention to our weekend weather. From what I have been told, we should be expecting highs in the single digits with windchills down to -25 degrees. Of course, with those temperatures, a person could freeze to death within half an hour if not dressed well enough.

Authorities believe that we could receive anywhere from 4" to over 14" of snow. The storm should begin sometime Saturday or Saturday night and last through Monday with blizzard conditions.

At this time, we have more than a 50% chance of having this storm.

I recommend that you have a stockpile of groceries on hand, etc. Make necessary preparations for any pets that live outdoors or livestock NOW. Have snow shovels and ice melt on hand where you can get to it easily and safely. With temperatures that low, it is a good thing to allow a slender stream of water to drop from your faucets to prevent waterline freezing and breakage.

I'll keep you updated on any new information I receive.
