Margery Virginia Gorsuch, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at the Wichita County Health Center in Leoti, Kansas. Marge was born April 12, 1919 in Wichita, Kansas the daughter of Dr. Herman Ellis & Myrtle Alene Garrison Johnson. Following graduation at Mount Hope High School in Mount Hope, Kansas, she attended Southwestern University in Winfield, Kansas; she then became the music instructor for the Bentley school system in Bentley, Kansas. On September 7, 1941 she married Jack Leroy Gorsuch at Mount Hope, Kansas. Marge then became a farm wife / homemaker and following sixty-eight years of marriage, Jack passed away on December 7, 2008 in Leoti, Kansas.
Marge was a very active member of the United Methodist Church in Leoti, Kansas, having served on nearly all the different boards and commissions serving her church and its district.
Marge’s surviving family includes- One son and his wife- Tim & Candy Gorsuch- Selkirk, Kansas Two daughters and their husbands- Jaclyn & John Gannon- Atlanta, Georgia Pamela & Jeff Menzie- Ulysses, Kansas Fourteen grandchildren and Nine great grandchildren A brother, Franklin Johnson and a son, Walter Gorsuch, preceded her in death.
Funeral services for Marge will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, January 22, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Leoti, Kansas with the Reverends Mike Howard and Glenn Fogo officiating.
Burial will be in Leoti Cemetery in Leoti, Kansas.
Friends may call from 5:00 pm through 8:00 pm Thursday and 10:00 am through 8:00 pm Friday at Price and Sons Funeral Home in Leoti, Kansas.
Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
