Icy Streets

Our daughter, Leighlyn, is signed up for the junior high's Quiz Bowl. This morning at 7:45 was their first practice. We took the side streets to get to the high school. As you know, we had our first measurable snow storm of the season on Sunday. Because of that, the streets and roads are not as clear as we normally have. The City employees have gone out and scraped all of them but there is always that thin skim of snow and ice that is left. Folks, these streets tend to be very slick. None of us should be driving too fast for these conditions NOR should we take unnecessary risks. Just as we got to the bus barn, a vehicle traveling on the road which goes just west of Christ Covenant Church, came down that street at a speed too fast for the conditions and PULLED RIGHT OUT IN FRONT OF US! Fortunately, we were able to avoid a collision with the vehicle. The only harm done was that Leighlyn was embarrased when I honked at the vehicle. The vehicle stopped at the junior/senior high school also to drop off a student. Leighlyn was so embarrased that she insisted that we drive around the block first so that no one knew that it was her mom who was the notorios honker in this case... LOL!!!

Anyway, drive slower and be more attentive of other people also on the roads and highways in conditions such as these.
