I just received information from J.R.M. who told me that they had been on a website to try to learn what they could do to rid their dishwasher of those nasty water deposit build-ups. They read that the powdered TANG orange drink mix was the perfect solution. You just pour the powder into your dishsoap dispensers and run the empty machine through a regular cycle. (I always recommend that you run hot water through your kitchen sink before you start your dishwasher.) When the entire wash and rinse cycle was completed, the dishwasher looked and smelled wonderful!
I would think that if you poured a cup or so of this into your empty washing machine that is filled with hot water, it would probably have the same results. Of course, I am just assuming that...
In our case, I think that it would be a good idea to do this once a month to keep the deposits down before they become a problem.
