Internet Rumor--Not Fact

Anyone who receives email on their computer has probably received email of various crimes that have been committed against women in shopping center parking lots, etc. I just received another similar email. Before sending it onward, I did some investigation on SNOPES.COM . This is what I learned that just might help those people who are overly anxious about such things happening to themselves. BUT please do not think that I am telling you that this could not happen. It definitely could. We just need to be aware of our surroundings at all times!

"On December 16, 1989, a man kidnapped a younger woman from a department store in Waterbuy, CT, after he had helped her to change a tire that he had let the air out of while she was in the store doing some Christmas shopping. He then drove her to a wooded area where he raped her, bound her and pushed her off of a dam into an icy pond 23 feet below. She was later discovered--dead, of course."

Since then, there has been no evidence of this happening anywhere in the United States. However, there have been many email sent out involving different people in different situations. If you receive email that seems like it might not be totally true, check into Snopes. It might relieve your mind considerably.

Just thought that you might want to know the rest of the story...
