Scott Janssen of Scott City

Scott was born on April 4th, 1967 and passed away on October 24th, 2009, at the Kansas City Hospice Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 42.

Scott spent his youth in Scott City and graduated at Scott Community High School. He then went on to pursue his education at Colby Community College where he was on the National Championship Livestock Judging Team. After that, he went on to Kansas State University where he received his Bachellor's Degree in Animal Science.

Together with his wife, Leslie Karnes-Janssen whom he married on November 15th, 1994, he built Jansenn Training Stables which is a much-loved landmark for people of the horse community.

He is survived by his wife, his parents, Alfred and Sally, grandmothers, Rosemary and Juanita, one brother, 1 sister and 4 loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 on Monday, October 26th at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Eudora, Kansas. A second funeral service will be held at Scott City's Methodist Church on Wednesday, October 28th. (I do not know what time that service will be held.) Burial will be in the Scott County Cemetary.

The family suggests that memorial donations be given to the Kansas Quarter Horse Association Scholarship Fund, Hospice House in Kansas City, Mo., or the Kansas University Cancer Center and may be sent in care of Price and Sons Funeral Home of Scott City.
