Personal Opinion...

For the past few years, I have been hearing nasty things that I can't quite wrap my head around. Leoti is a small town. Most people appear to know about everyone else here. For the most part, that is a good thing. Fortunately or unfortunately, everyone seems to know everyone else's business. That includes people's professional business. F. e., we know who owns the grocery store, we know who owns carpentry businesses, etc.

For many years, Daddy owned his own business which included carpentry, plumbing, etc. At the same time that he was in business for himself, he also knew other people in the county who made their own livings by doing the same kind of work. He always believed that there was ample work available for everyone as long as everyone did good workmanship, was fair, etc. If he was too busy to get to a certain job, he recommended his competitors whom he believed in to his customers. He respected many of his competitors and treated them with respect and oftimes, friendship. He spent many a-day, sitting side by side with his competitors as they ate lunch at the cafe. They talked! They laughed! They genuinely enjoyed each other!

Now, in our fine little town, some people are treating their competitors with absolutely no respect. No friendship. Instead, they find it acceptable to make finger and hand gestures to the competition whenever possible. Why is that?

GROW UP, PEOPLE!!! Personally, I find this behavior to be ridiculous. The people who are engaging in these practices don't have to worry about me gracing them with any of my business.
