Harriet J. Hess--Scott City

(October 3, 1934 - December 8, 2011)

Harriet J. Hess, age 77, passed away at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City, Kansas on Wednesday, December 8, 2011. She was born on October 3, 1934 in Conway Springs, Kansas, the daughter of Harry & Bethel Chitwood Barnes. A 1952 graduate of Scott Community High School, she was a resident of Scott City, Kansas since 1951 moving from Tonkawa, Oklahoma, she was a homemaker.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the High Plains Study Club both of Scott City, Kansas.

On December 6, 1952 she married Gene Hess in Garden City, Kansas. He survives.


Survivors include her Husband - Gene Hess of Scott City, Kansas, One Son - Allen & Karen Hess of Scott City, Kansas, Three Daughters - Jan & Roger Winter of Scott City, Kansas, Mary Kay & Galen Huck of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Jean Ann Fairleigh of Scott City, Kansas, One Sister - LaVonne Wycoff of Conway Springs, Kansas, 10 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her Parents.


Funeral Services will beheld at the United Methodist Church in Scott City, Kansas at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2011 with Pastor Dennis Carter and Pastor Galen Huck presiding.

Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas.

Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church or the Scott County Arts Council % Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday and 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Monday @ Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas.
