A major snowstorm hits Western Kansas.

My family and I awoke to a beautiful sight, at least in my daughters' and my opinion. LOL!!! Snow had already begun accumalating on the yards and streets of Leoti. It is beautiful!!! Much moisture is being pumped from the Gulf Of Mexico into the nation's Central Plains where a cold front from the North is waiting. The last that I knew, a blizzard warning has been issued for us. Yeah!!!

This snow is VERY moist! Already, a large pine tree in our front yard is bending under the weight of the snow. I haven't seen this since our majorly harsh Winter of a couple of years ago. That year, that same tree was bent practically in half for that Winter until Spring when the very deep snowdrifts began to melt. Right now, we have about 2 inches of snow on the ground and heavy snow continues to fall. Around a foot more of snow is expected through Tuesday. Already, various activities have been cancelled or postponed. Winds are beginning to blow.

I want to remind Leotians that Skyler and Brice Mason have recently purchased a snowblower. If you are interested in hiring them to clean your sidewalks and driveways, please give them a call at 375-2133.

Happy Winter!!!

VLE-B
