Blaus' Latest Project Update

Last week, I mentioned that we had decided to do another remodel at our house. It was to be "no great big deal" kinda thing. Hmmm...it didn't turn out to be that way though. LOL! Last Sunday, we ripped the oak trimwork out that surrounded the archway that seperated our dining room from our living room. After that was completed, Stan got out one of his electric saws and widened the opening dramatically. Though we had expected to have all done by the end of Sunday, we missed the mark. As we all know, life happens. Sometimes our greatest expectations don't go on as planned. So for the next several days, we had an archway that was double the size of the original one. This meant that we had oak trimwork on the walls in our dining room and living room. The trimwork that was originally placed on the dining room side, was left in there. The trimwork for the living room remained in a corner in the living room. Stan had come up with this reasoning so that he would know exactly where each piece belonged so that putting these pieces back up would cost less time than otherwise. Unfortunately, he failed to tell me he had left part of the trimwork in the living room and the other part in the dining room. I put them all together!!! Guess what? When Stan got ready to re-hang the trim, he had to spend more time figuring out where each piece belonged... I know that I am the pits. LOL!!!

Stan worked Saturday morning at his paying job. Shortly after noon, he began working on the archway again. By the end of the day. He had the rest of the living room walls erected once again. Life was good! On Sunday just before we were to begin work where we left off, Stan got a phone call that he was needed to haul more feed to another farm. Three hours later, he returned home. After we had eaten lunch, we got back down to business. This time, he succeeded in putting the rest of the dining room wall back together. After that, he managed to hang the oak in the center of the archway and on the living room side of it. It looks great! He plans on hanging the rest of the oak in the dining room tonight or tomorrow. As usual, Stan did a superb job on our latest remodel. But...this is not where our story ends. Some of our Tuscan wall treatment (sheet rock mud) had fallen off when the walls were being taken off last Sunday. So now, I need to repair the walls with more joint compound mud. After that, I will be doing more painting. The living room is almost completed. Once it is finished, I will re-paint the dining room. Hopefully, the last bit of our project will be finished within the next couple of days.
