It has been a few months since we tackled anything major at home. That is getting ready to change!
Our living room runs right next to our kitchen and dining room. There is an archway that seperates the living room from the north end of our kitchen and an archway that seperates the living room from the dining room. Ever since we bought the house almost 13 years ago, we've been disappointed with where the living/dining room archway is. Because of where it is located, it makes positioning large furniture in the area between the dining room/kitchen. Given the fact that our living room furniture is larger than most, we have to position it in front of our windows which none of us like. Of course, most of the windows are completely uncovered but our problem is that it is difficult to get behind the furniture so that we can clean and open the windows. That is fixin' to change today!
Stan is in the process right now of removing the oak trimwork and rosettes from both sides of the living/dining room archway. Next step is to carefully remove the wall to the south of it. When we have completed this job, our archway and wall will have traded places. I doubt if many people ever think of doing this. We wouldn't be able to do it if it were not for Stan's building expertise. When we have completed this task, we will be able to reposition our living room furniture and nothing will cover the windows except for window coverings. We can hardly wait!
Major changes will take place in the dining room also. Again, our large antique furniture that we inherited from my grandparents will be able to be moved into different areas. I am sooo excited about all of this!!! Another major job in our living room will be up next. We are hoping to have it finished before the end of November. I'll write more about that at a later time. As always, I will let you know how all of this pans out.
