Long Night in Leoti

Well, Folks, between listening to all of the chirping from the WeatherBug and the weather warnings on TV, I was not able to sleep until about 4:30. Last night's weather was very eventful. Between Thursday evening when our rains began and right now, the Blaus House rainguage has gathered 6.30" of beautiful rain!!! Incredible. And...more rain is on its way. Though it is not raining here right now, we can tell that it will be sometime soon.

There were a bunch of tornado warnings in Western Kansas last night, but as far as I know, no twisters ever touched the ground. In Leoti, we had some hail. I don't know if it caused any damage.

Stan ended up having to work today. When he drove down Main and Broadway Streets this morning at around 4:30, he saw several pickups that had tires that were just barely sticking out of the water. Some of these were no longer able to move. As of 9:45 this morning, the street that goes from north to south just across from Presto, is completely under water.

So far, Stan has delivered feed to the Ulysses, Kansas area. All the way from Leoti to that area, they have had good rains but he doesn't think that Grant County or Kearney County has had as much as we have had.

Leighlyn spent the night with friends of ours yesterday. They left for a Bible fact competition in Central Kansas at 4:00 this morning. When they walked out of our friends' front door, they stepped into a lake! LOL!!! Once they had gotten through Dighton, which is less than an hour east of here, the storm had ended. As of 7:30 when she called me from their destination, they had not had any more rain. That will probably change today.

I am hoping and praying that this rain is flushing what is left of our drought right on out. If you are out and about in our area this weekend, please be careful. And always try to go around the rain instead of through it.

VLE-B
