October is already 25% gone. I think that it is safe to say that our warm weather will be subsiding soon and cold weather will take its place. It'll be time to pull those winter coats out of moth balls, get 'em cleaned and ready to keep you warm this winter.
It is sad to know that not all of us will have winter coats this year. For many people, money is not available to purchase coats for children and/or adults. If you have any coats in good shape that you will no longer be using, I urge you to donate them to thrift stores such as Goodwill, Salvation Army and local stores. If you live in cities, drop them off at homeless shelters if you want to.
Some clothing and variety stores are running coat drive events this time of the year. Some of these stores will give you a discount on a new coat when you give your older coat(s) to the store so that they can give them to a person in need.
If you or someone you know is looking at a coatless winter, please contact your church and let them know so that coats might be located for you.
