Edna Bernadine Sitts, age 97, died Thursday, October 6, 2011 at the St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. She was born October 24, 1913 in McPherson, Kansas the daughter of Milo and Minnie Burton Sitts. A resident of Garden City since 1948, she had been a long time educator for the Garden City School District retiring in 1982.
Bernadine was a long time member of and since retiring had been a full time volunteer for the First United Methodist Church of Garden City, Kansas. She was instrumental in the lives of numerous Garden City students, was involved in several organizations and was the recipient of dozens of awards and honors.
Survivors Include: One Brother, Ted Sitts of Holly, Colorado One Sister, Doris Sloan of Hutchinson, Kansas and Numerous Nieces and Nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Wilbur Sitts and a sister, Evelyn Layman.
A Celebration of Life Service for the Garden City School District Faculty, Staff and Students will be held at 5:30pm on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in Garden City, Kansas.
Traditional Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in Garden City, Kansas.
Friends may call from 10:00am-5:00pm on Monday and from 10:00am-4:00pm Tuesday at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas.
Interment will be held at 3:00pm on Wednesday in the Walnut Hill Cemetery in Kingman, Kansas.
Memorials may be given to the Bernadine Sitts Designated Fund at the Western Kansas Community Foundation in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City, Kansas.
