When I was growing up in Leoti, we had a good amount of squirrels here. Several years ago, they all seemed to vanish. I assume that some disease went through that killed them off. They were missed by many of us Leotians. A couple of years ago, we started seeing a few of them in the southern part of Leoti. Now they have managed to make it over into parts of northern Leoti. Most of us are welcoming them. How did they get here? I don't know. Some people think that someone brought them into Leoti and set them free. If that is what happened, I am happy that they did!
My mom has some in her yard now. She even has a blond one that is just as cute as it can be! Today she noticed that one of them was carrying a pinecone in its mouth. Do they eat them? If so, I guess that they must have "pine fresh breath." LOL!!!
