I have received comments and questions about who actually won seats for city council. To clarify some of this, two seats were open for re-election--Roger Porter's and Rick Gilmore's. Both of those men plus Tony Hernandez and Jess Krenzel were all running. When citizens went to the Community Building to vote, they were asked to vote for just two people running for City Council. When all of the votes were tallied, the majority of the votes were cast for Rick Gilmore and Tony Hernandez. Roger Porter and Jess Krenzel received the smaller amounts of votes.
The vacant seat that Lori Elder-Christensen left in order to take her position as mayor, is in need of being filled. If you are at least 18-years-old, have been a resident of Leoti for at least 1 year, and are a registered voter, you are invited to apply. Do that by going to the Leoti City Council and filling out a paper that will express your desire to represent the citizens of Leoti, Kansas.
I hope that this has helped.

there is no "paper" to be filled out. A simple letter of interest saying why you would like to be considered for appointment to the city council is all that is required. You must be a registered voter, at least 18 years old and live within the city limits of leoti for at least the prior twelve consecutive months. The letter can then be delivered to the city hall. Please, if you have questions, call city hall at 375-2341.
