I am SICK AND TIRED of all of the wind that we have been dealing with for the past several days!!! Winds were expected to be speeding right along at 50-60 mph tonight. They arrived!!! We had to make a rush trip to Garden City this evening. HUGE tumbleweeds seemingly came out of nowhere and tumbled right on by. We have a nice van. Normally, it is very comfortable and quiet. Tonight was the first time that we literally had to yell in order to be heard by the person sitting right next to us. It was terrible. We saw semi-trucks and regular vehicles pulled over to the side of the road to avoid accidents. The Best Western Motel in Scott City had a full house tonight! More people chose to just pull over and rest instead of fighting the winds.
As soon as we got back to town, we stopped off at the office building that I clean in the evenings. When we were ready to go back to the van, we were struck by a large white plastic ball! Come to find out, the ball was actually a globe that covers lightbulbs on the decorative lights downtown. I left a message at City Hall that we knew where one of the missing globes was... To my knowledge, this is the first time that winds have been strong enough to bring the globes down. We noticed that there were at least two missing globes from their posts!
Good news? Absolutely!!! The Lord has sent us rain off and on for most of the day! Maybe now, our drought will come to an end.
Hang on to your hats, men. Women, you might not want to wear any skirts, dresses or moo moos until the winds are put to rest... My moo moo will continue to hang in our closet for awhile longer.
VLE-B
