What's NEW in the Pikes Peak Region- SPRING, 2011

WIND WALKER CHALLENGE COURSE
What do you get when you cross a zip line, a jungle gym, a maze and a rope course ALL together? You get Colorado's newest family outdoor attraction.

Opening this Spring, the Cave of the Winds' newest attraction will allow people of all ages and many skill levels the opportunity to experience thrills and adrenaline rushes as they ascend into the structure wearing a special made safety harness and then stepping out into thin air as they cross swinging bridges, cargo nets, tight ropes and more elements each one more challenging than the last!

The structure consists of two levels – 15 and then 40 feet above the ground. But for the really brave and adventurous there will be one more surprise, a third level that juts away from the main structure and extends over the canyon rim! The view to the bottom of William's Canyon is over 600 feet ... if you dare!!

WHAT'S NEW AT ECHO CANYON RIVER EXPEDITIONS?

Just about everything is new at Echo! 2011 will be the grand opening of the premier river facility in Colorado. Echo Canyon will unveil a premier campground and full restaurant and bar. When Echo says "just about everything is new at Echo this year", they really mean it. Echo Canyon will also be offering a new Overnight Express raft trip in 2011. Cog Up/Bike Down

If you want to see all of Pikes Peak, this is your ride! Take the Cog Railway up to the summit (south side of the mountain), then meet your Challenge Unlimited Crew on the top and bike down the mountain (north side of the mountain)! The schedule varies with the season so be SURE to call for information, reservations and transportation to and from the Cog Railway. Last summer marked the 115th anniversary of the writing of Katherine Lee Bates' song "America the Beautiful." The song, inspired by the view from atop Pikes Peak, has become the unofficial anthem of the United States. We can think of no better way to view Colorado's spacious skies, our amber waves of grain, or the majesty of the Pikes Peak region than to cruise down Pikes Peak. Challenge Unlimited, an adventure travel company based in Colorado Springs. This exciting dimension of Colorado mountain biking offers people of all bicycling skill levels the opportunity to experience one of the highest organized bike rides in the world. People have been driving the Pikes Peak Highway since the 1800s, but biking presents a whole new way to visit the mountain. Without the constraints of a car, riders are better able to experience the elements, and to view the wildlife and beautiful scenery of Pikes Peak. ROYAL GORGE BRIDGE AND PARK

At the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park, all Moms get in FREE on Mother's Day, May 8, and all Dads get in FREE on Father's Day, June 19. This is a $25 dollar value. May is also Military Month, so all military personnel, active and retired with proper ID, are offered half price daily admission, or half price season passports for the entire month. Season passports are good for one year from the date of purchase.

Also new at the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park...

Along famous US Highway 50 cutting across America at the corner of Fremont Country Rd. 3A right outside Canon City, Colo., the new Royal Gorge Bridge Visitor Center welcomes guests to the region. The visitor center is approximately 3 miles from its parent attraction, the Royal Gorge Bridge & Park and will pre sell tickets to the park and offer visitors the opportunity to eat and shop at the center's Country Cafe and Gift Shop open from 7 a.m. - 7p.m. daily April 30 to Oct. 16.

The 4,000 sq. foot facility will offer road travelers through the area a place to stop, take a break and also be introduced to all the activities in the area. The Country Café and Gift Shop features the park specialties of their "house made" barbecue, gourmet ice cream treats along with breakfast featuring the park's own breakfast sausage, appetizers, and sandwich menus through early evening.

The Gift Shop will offer the park's unique merchandise from the Royal Gorge Bridge & Park shops. The Royal Gorge Bridge & Park is well known for having one the world's highest suspension bridges built in 1929, and has greeted over 23 million guests since that time. The park is open year round and features over 20 rides, shows, and attractions during the summer tourist season May through September.
